Craig L. Israelsen, Ph.D. Craig L. Israelsen, Ph.D., is an Executive-in-Residence, Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University, in Orem Utah, where he teaches in the Personal Financial Planning Program. He holds a Ph.D. in Family Resource Management from Brigham Young University. He received a B.S. in Agribusiness and a M.S. in Agricultural Economics from Utah State University. Prior to teaching at Utah Valley University, Craig was an associate professor, teaching Personal and Family Finance at Brigham Young University for 9 years and was on the faculty of the University of Missouri-Columbia for 14 years, where he taught Personal and Family Finance in the Personal Financial Planning Department. Primary among his research interests is the analysis of investment products, particularly mutual funds. He writes monthly for Financial Planning magazine and www.horsesmouth.com. His research has also been published in Journal of Indexes, Journal of Financial Planning, and Journal of Asset Management. Craig is also the author of the 7Twelve Portfolio. He is married to Tamara Trimble. They have seven children. Hobbies include swimming, biking, running, and woodworking. |

Joseph C. Nagengast Joseph C. Nagengast is a principal of Target Date Analytics, where he directs and co-authors Popping the Hood, a recurring and comprehensive analysis of target date fund families. He also serves as a senior consultant to MJM401k, an independent SEC-registered investment advisor and pension consultant, serving exclusively as a trusted advisor to 401(k) plan sponsors and their committees. He was previously president of Turnstone Advisory Group LLC, a firm that was merged with Target Date Analytics and MJM401k. For more than 20 years, Joe has consulted clients on issues of institutional investing, fiduciary compliance, and retirement plans and policies. He is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist, a past president of the Los Angeles Chapter of ISCEBS, and a member of the Western Pension & Benefits Conference. He is widely quoted in investment publications and is a regular speaker and writer on topics related to retirement plans and institutional investments. |
